Star Wars: Blood Ties – Boba Fett is Dead #2 – Out this week!

Monday, May 28th, 2012

Boba Fett continues to be dead this week.  Issue #2 of Star Wars: Blood Ties – Boba Fett is Dead is out this Wednesday all over the world, and features one of my favourite covers ever from, the man, Chris Scalf.

Here are some of the nicest things said about issue #1

“Boba Fett is Dead isn’t your average Star Wars installment, it’s a rough tale of what happens when you start a war against a force that isn’t completely understood. I really look forward to what Tom Taylor has in store for the rest of this series, it’s certainly going to be an intense one. Story: ★★★★★ Art: ★★★★★ Bamfas

“It reads as a Richard Stark novel set in space. “Star Wars: Blood Ties – Boba Fett Is Dead” is unashamedly an entertaining book. Tom Taylor finds something of interest in every scene to ensure you actually haven’t seen all of this before. If you like Star Wars this is a nice and easy way to dip into the comics and have a good time.” – CBR

“What a way to start this tale – we dive right into the action, and don’t really stop at all for the whole issue. Taylor combines the action with a streak of dark comedy in both Connor Freeman and his enemies.” “Just go out and get it and read it. And then thank me.”Big Shiny Robot

“With elements of a Raymond Chandler novel, it follows in the footsteps of sci-fi noirs such as Blade Runner and Alphaville.” “I strongly recommend the Blood Ties comics to any Star Wars fan.”Fanboy Comics

“I never read any of the original Blood Ties limited series, but Tom Taylor writes this issue so well, I felt caught up and right in step with the action.” “I’m going to follow Scalf to any comic he does. Overall grade: ASci Fi Pulse

“It’s full of characters I’m unfamiliar with in the Star Wars Universe, but it doesn’t matter, the story is solid and the art by Chris Scalf is amazing.”
– Nerd Farm

“What you have here is a great first issue: plenty of answers to bring you up to speed and heaps of mystery to keep you guessing.”
- Giant Fire Breathing Robot

“I loved the first issue of Star Wars: Blood Ties-Boba Fett is Dead! Tom Taylor and Chris Scalf did an amazing job in the story and the art.” – Angry Koala Geer

Here it is, I’ve just seen this show up on the internet over at Rebelscum.com, so I figure I can now share it with public eyeballs. This is probably my favorite cover of our whole upcoming Star Wars: Blood Ties series. This spent a long time as my background image when the brilliant Chris Scalf first sent it my way.

Star Wars: Blood Ties ‘Boba Fett is Dead’ is Solicited with stunning variant cover

Friday, January 13th, 2012

Seriously. It’s good to be a comic book writer.
As if having Chris Scalf’s covers and interiors on this book wasn’t incredible enough, Star Wars: Blood Ties ‘Boba Fett is Dead’ was solicited today with this striking variant cover from David Palumbo. Add this to these two covers already released from Chris Scalf and, for once, I’d be happy if this series WAS judged by its covers.

Tell your local comic store to order now for April. You’ll be glad you did.

Darth Vader on the cover to ‘Star Wars: Blood Ties – Boba Fett is Dead’ #3

Tuesday, December 20th, 2011

I’ve now seen this in a few places on the intertubes, so I figure it’s safe to post here.

Darth Vader is squeezing your heart with the force on the cover of Star Wars: Blood Ties – Boba Fett is Dead #3.

The time-lapse video of this cover being made by Chris Scalf can be viewed right here. It’s well worth a watch. Chris Scalf’s time-lapse videos are a kind of magic.

As brilliant as this cover is, I have to say the cover to issue #2 is my favorite. I can’t wait until people get a look at that one.

Media Release — Fresh from the panel today at New York Comic Con, Dark Horse Comics is back with new series arcs from two of their most popular Star Wars books!

Star Wars: Blood Ties – Boba Fett is Dead

Established Star Wars writer Tom Taylor is back with another stunning Blood Ties series to be released in April 2012.

“Boba Fett is dead. The most infamous hunter in the galaxy has been hunted. He’s lying, broken, on the desert floor. He’s more blaster-holes than man. It’s the ultimate ending. However, this is just the start of our story. With the fall of Fett broadcast across the galaxy, someone rises to avenge him. But who would care about the death of a man like Fett? Bounty hunters aren’t exactly known for their enduring, close friendships but even a man like Boba Fett has family… and now a Blood Tie demands blood.” -Tom Taylor

Yes, the artwork for ‘Star Wars: Blood Ties – Boba Fett is Dead’ has been unveiled as part of the media release. And here it is!

There was no art in the first announcement over at IGN overnight, which prompted me to do this.

In other news, ‘The Deep: Here Be Dragons’ is sold out AGAIN on Amazon.  If you’re a fan of my Star Wars work, please do check out this book about the adventures of a multi-ethnic family of underwater explorers who live on a submarine. It’s available from the official website for $9.95, it has had rave reviews and I’m very proud of it. Cheers!

Boba Fett Is Dead – Star Wars Blood Ties

Friday, October 14th, 2011

New York Comic Con has just started but apparently my major news has just been announced with IGN and Bleeding Cool reporting my new Blood Ties series ‘Boba Fett is Dead’ with artist Chris Scalf is underway.

The first Blood Ties received a lot of love from fans and critics alike and I’m constantly asked whether there will be more. Well, I can finally say ‘yes, there will be’. It’s 4.56am here in Australia and I’ve been up all night working away on issue #3.

I don’t think Dark Horse have released the cover art yet, so I’ve taken it upon myself to come up with a visual for everyone.
