And, with the exclusive preview of Revelations #2 being up at CBR, that means more incredible Colin Wilson images will soon appear on the iPad like this…
So, be sure and pick up Revelations #2 and get downloading.
And please remember to pick up The Deep: Here Be Dragons if you haven’t already. It came out last week. It’s good. People say so. And people are always right.

Queen Nina and Princess Kaye’s attack on the Yuuzhan Vong collaborators on Shramar has brought Warmaster Tsavong Lah and his armada to the scene.
But the New Republic has some special forces in reserve: namely, every free ship in the sector! It’s a space battle of epic proportions as pirate ships, freighters, and Imperial vessels join the New Republic’s fleet against the invaders from another galaxy!
Chris and I are working on two (possibly three) new series at the moment, including the previously announced ‘Voice of a Dragon’. More news soon…

Yes. Star Wars: Invasion has arrived with the new story arc ‘Revelations’.
And the official Star Wars site has an exclusive preview of issue #1 where Colin Wilson sends Luke Skywalker into battle against impossible odds.
Right here – StarWars.com
Epic battles. Betrayal. The Yuuzhan Vong. The Empire. The Galfridians. A secret weapon that could spell the end of the galaxy and more twists than you could poke a double-bladed lightsaber at.
So big we had to do it twice. Yes, two covers! Revelations #1 comes with a cover by our new cover artist, the always brilliant Chris Scalf (artist on Star Wars: Blood Ties), and a special variant by the great Dave Dorman, to mark the 25th anniversary of Dark Horse comics.

And don’t forget, coming in the next few weeks – The Deep!

“This is, hands down, the best of the “Star Wars” comics from Dark Horse that I have read.” - Comic Book Resources
Yes, the trade paperback of Star Wars: Blood Ties is out this week. It’s not often that I go out of my way to read my own work but I am kind of excited to see this one in its collected glory. I’m still very happy with this story (which is a rare thing) and I hope I get a chance very soon to add to the Blood Ties series along with the genius that is Chris Scalf. Go get this. Lend it to your friends.

Star Wars: Blood Ties—A Tale of Jango and Boba Fett
Here begins a multigenerational tale of honor and redemption, starring two of the heaviest hitters in the Star Wars galaxy–the father-and-clone team of Jango and Boba Fett!A mission that begins with Jango Fett–before the Clone Wars–will affect the course of Boba Fett’s life some twenty years into the future. When an important assignment with a big payday from Count Dooku goes awry for Jango, Boba will be tasked with picking up the pieces . . .
* This volume full of Mandalorian mayhem collects issues #1–#4 of the comics series Blood Ties!
“Taylor seems poised to add some real depth to this enigmatic bounty hunter without sacrificing his cooler qualities. Whether in revisiting Jango’s death from Boba’s point of view or showcasing his bounty hunting methods, Taylor offers a lot for Fett fans to enjoy in this series.” - IGN
“Writer Tom Taylor has roped us into the story from the beginning, and his illumination of the forces at play in these characters’ lives is not only intriguing; it seems to touch on a universal familial truth. There is an almost scientific way to see that Blood Ties is a successful story: In it, Taylor has taken to illuminating aspects of one this fictional universe’s most mysterious characters. In the end, however, the mystery of the character has been only multiplied. It would be overly dramatic for me to say that Blood Ties is the Citizen Kane of Star Wars comics. However, I can’t deny that I found myself comparing the two works in my head as I read this final issue.” – THE SCI-FI BLOCK

On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, Colin Wilson and I are guests of NEXUS- Festival of Animation, Comics, Graphic Novels + Moving Image.
I completely neglected to post about this, so please spread the word, all Melbournites.
Colin and I will be running a comic book Master Class on the Tuesday from 3-6pm which we’d love to see YOU at. We will also be part of a panel discussion on Sequential art and Narrative at the ungodly time of 10am on the Wednesday – For anyone who doesn’t know, I write until obscenely late at night. We will also be signing at a booth from 1pm (a much more reasonable time) until 5pm on the Wednesday. We will have plenty of copies of our work available, including our new Star Wars Invasion: Rescues TPB and Colin may also be doing commissions.

Voting for the Eagle Awards in the UK is now open and anyone can vote right here – http://www.eagleawards.co.uk/
Some nice person has stuck me down under ‘Favourite Newcomer Writer’ and ‘Favourite Writer’… for the record, even I can’t vote for me under ‘Favourite Writer’ but I’m sure my mum can.
If you’re planning on voting (thanks), Star Wars: Blood Ties and Star Wars: Invasion are also nominated, as is Rombies (be ready for a Rombies update soon…). Also, be sure and vote for Chris Scalf under ‘Favourite Painted Art’ and Colin Wilson under ‘Favourite Inker/Penciller’ – Colin is also on the Honour Roll – definitely vote for him there. Justin Randall is also under ‘Favourite Newcomer Artist’.
Staying in the UK, my play ‘Falling Praying’ has taken out the final of ‘Crash Test Drama UK’! Whoop!
Thanks to the director, Dan Clarke, and a big congratulations to the two cast members, Dan Clarke, who took out the ‘Best Actor’ award on the night, and Steph Weller, who won ‘Best Actress’. Also, a big thank you to organiser, Glynn Oram.
In other UK news, Star Wars Book UK have announced the winners of their ‘Fan Favourites’ for 2010 and it seems we‘ve picked up second place… twice.

“Knights of the Old Republic: Demon by John Jackson Miller et al. was your favourite comic book story of 2010 with 26% of votes cast. However, second place was tied by two different stories by the same author, also a newcomer to the Star Wars expanded universe, Tom Taylor, with his Invasion: Rescues story (with art by Colin Wilson) and Blood Ties: Jango & Boba Fett (art by Chris Scalf) – both gaining 17% of votes cast. Third place goes to another series known to be popular, Legacy by John Ostrander and Jan Duursema, with its concluding arc Extremes (13%).”
Thanks to everyone at SWBOOKS.UK who voted.
Also in the UK, I believe the 5th issue of Star Wars Galaxy is out this week, reprinting Blood Ties and Invasion from the beginning along with Knight Errant. Pick it up if you’re in the UK.

The collected edition of Star Wars: Blood Ties is now available for pre order and the reviews are still going strong. The Washington Times even gave the book a great write up a couple of weeks ago. Click the pic for the link.

“At times, this comic book had a couple of laugh out loud moments making the story stay away from the typical deadly serious Boba Fett story. But fear not, there are plenty of Boba being a badass moments if that’s what you are looking for in this comic… it tells a story that entertained me and got me interested in characters I previously had little interest in before. It doesn’t hurt to have some witty dialogue and some terrific artwork. I guess you could also say I am a sucker for endings with a twist. It’s tough to come across a good original trilogy comic book story but this one is even better than good. I definitely recommend this comic and series. 4.5 out of 5 Geek Goggles” – COMIC LIST
