Here it is, I’ve just seen this show up on the internet over at Rebelscum.com, so I figure I can now share it with public eyeballs. This is probably my favorite cover of our whole upcoming Star Wars: Blood Ties series. This spent a long time as my background image when the brilliant Chris Scalf first sent it my way.

As if having Chris Scalf’s covers and interiors on this book wasn’t incredible enough, Star Wars: Blood Ties ‘Boba Fett is Dead’ was solicited today with this striking variant cover from David Palumbo. Add this to these two covers already released from Chris Scalf and, for once, I’d be happy if this series WAS judged by its covers.

As brilliant as this cover is, I have to say the cover to issue #2 is my favorite. I can’t wait until people get a look at that one.

There was no art in the first announcement over at IGN overnight, which prompted me to do this.

New York Comic Con has just started but apparently my major news has just been announced with IGN and Bleeding Cool reporting my new Blood Ties series ‘Boba Fett is Dead’ with artist Chris Scalf is underway.
The first Blood Ties received a lot of love from fans and critics alike and I’m constantly asked whether there will be more. Well, I can finally say ‘yes, there will be’. It’s 4.56am here in Australia and I’ve been up all night working away on issue #3.
I don’t think Dark Horse have released the cover art yet, so I’ve taken it upon myself to come up with a visual for everyone.

Just saw the top 100 Graphic Novel sales for May 2011 and Star Wars: Blood Ties has come in at number 12! This on top of Star Wars Invasion: Rescues coming in at number 11 for April. Two trades in the top 15 in two months? I’ll take that.

I’m still very happy with this story (which is a rare thing) and I hope I get a chance very soon to add to the Blood Ties series along with the genius that is Chris Scalf. Go get this. “At times, this comic book had a couple of laugh out loud moments making the story stay away from the typical deadly serious Boba Fett story. But fear not, there are plenty of Boba being a badass moments if that’s what you are looking for in this comic… it tells a story that entertained me and got me interested in characters I previously had little interest in before. It doesn’t hurt to have some witty dialogue and some terrific artwork. I guess you could also say I am a sucker for endings with a twist. Chris Scalf and I have had a great time creating this story, so it’s a bit sad to see the end. But fear not, Chris and I have a few more things in the pipeline… news soon.

Once again, two of my Star Wars books are out on the same day and both are the penultimate chapters of their stories.
Star Wars: Blood Ties seems to be a bit of a critical success and issue #1 sold almost as many copies the month after it came out as it did in the first month, which is a very good sign. The story continues here. More is revealed about Connor Freeman, and Boba Fett gets to show off his wonderful toys.
Meanwhile, so much of Star Wars: Invasion has been leading up to this single issue. There have been some wild theories from fans about the secrets of this series. Some of those ‘ridiculous’ theories may be proven true in this issue (sorry, some of those ridiculous theories will remain ridiculous). This is the issue that should have more people talking than ever before…
